CLASS OF ’50-‘57
Ziad Yamout ’57
graduated from
AUB in 1962 as a Civil Engineer. He has
worked both in Lebanon and in Saudi
Arabia. His last employment was for 12
years as Director of Physical Plant at
AUB. He is presently retired and spends
his time reading science, surfing the web,
keeping fit and skiing in winter.
CLASS OF ’60-‘64
Farid Mattar ’64
returned from Nige-
ria after 38 years and is retiring in Beirut.
His son and daughter live in Los Angeles.
CLASS OF ’70-‘73
Taref Osman ‘73
is one of the owners
of “Dar El Ilm Lilmalayin” and the CEO
of the company. He was recently awarded
“the best Arabic Publishing House in the
world” for the year 2007 in Sharja. 
Oussama Kaddoura ’74
received
several awards in 2007. After 22 years
in Paris, France in the field of car dis-
tribution (Mercedes, Smart, Lexus, and
Honda), the French prime
Minister awarded him the national or-
der of Merit of the French Government,
and the Lebanese government awarded
him the Lebanese Cedar National Or-
der. These rewards came just after he
was elected man of the year in the auto
journal and elected by PriceWaterHouse
coopers as the no1 distributor in the car
industry in France for the year 2007.
“Thanks to IC who gave me and many of
my old IC friends the best ground of our
present success,” he writes.
Mohamad Camille Moratada ’76
writes that “our generation lost the best
years of their lives during the civil war
that appears to be an endless one. Those
who were fighting during the seventies
and eighties are having their children to
continue the battle. The faces of the
same politicians who started killing
this country are back to continue their
mission. One feels shame and pity to
see the masses of people shouting and
gathering to support their leaders. Those
leaders who don’t find any problem in
spending money to buy anything even
the minds of their followers.”
Alia Malki Zaidan ‘78
is married to
Ibrahim Zaidan and has one son Khalil,
“who is the joy of our lives,” she writes.
“Khalil is in the upper campus at Sage
Hall this year and every time I go to pick
him up I become full of memories
about IC and friends many years back.”
CLASS OF ’80-‘89
Imad Baalbaki ’82
enters his 15th year
of service at the American University of
Beirut.  Over this period at AUB, Baal-
baki assumed positions of Director of
the School of Business (1997-2000) and
Director of Development and External
Affairs (2001-2007).  He was recently
promoted to Assistant Vice President for
Development and just concluded a major
fundraising campaign that was the most
successful in AUB’s history (and the most
successful by a private academic institu-
tion in the Region). The Campaign tar-
get was to raise $140million to celebrate
AUB’s 140th anniversary. The Campaign
donations exceeded $170million. 
Imad is married to Annelie Moukaddem
and has two daughters: Sarah (IC Grade
2), and Roya (IC KGII).
Fadi Beydoun ’83
is a dentist-perio-
dontist and part-time assistant and clini-
cal professor at the University of Medi-
cine and Dentistry in New Jersey.
Ayman Abou Chakra ’83
has been
nominated as head of the Swiss chapter.
Maya Bissat Jallaludine ’79 is the VP,
Chirine El Ariss is the coordinator, Peter
Chamlian ’95 is the treasurer and Lyn
Khalidy Yafaoui ’86 is the administrator.
The chapter will be holding their first
dinner in April.
Kazem Hodroge ’85
graduated from
the University of Montreal in Mechanical
Engineering. He is married with three
children and lives in Columbus, Ohio.
Dr. Bashar A. Al-Khalili ’88
has been
working as a senior consultant at East-
man Institute’s dept. of paediatric oral &
maxillofacial surgery since Jan. 2004. He’s
been recently promoted to acting head
of the department and runs the surgical
team. The department is unique in Swe-
den and provides sub-specialized care
for children and adolescents. He’s also
in-charge of the postgraduate training
program for GP’s who do rotations and
take clerkships at the department. He’s
been an elected member of the advisory
committee to the director’s office of the
Community Dental Health Authority in
Stockholm County since 2005. “It would
be great to hear from my old friends and
classmates.

Nawar Tayyan ’89
attended AUB and
majored in Chemistry then Medicine. He
then left to the USA where he trained in
Internal Medicine and then cardiology.
He is married to Eemann Tomeh and has
four kids: Marwan, Yahya, Aman, and
Ibrahim. He has been in Houston, Texas
for the past 11 years, and is an interven-
tional cardiologist in private practice.
CLASS OF ’90-‘99
Emile Tabanji ’94
and Samar are
proud to announce the birth of their first
baby girl (Reya) at AUH on Feb 19 at
9:05 a.m.
Amr El-Kebbi ’95
married Sarah Hal-
wany on August 30, 2008 and is in Beirut.
