Once his official speech was over, the
Prime Minister couldn’t resist. His sud-
den decision to sit among IC students
was obviously impromptu. Body guards
looked aghast. It was certainly not in the
plan. But PM Saad Hariri seemed unper-
turbed. “I want to meet the children,” he
said simply.
The students, all choir members, who
had just finished their performance,
were thrilled as the Prime Minister sat
amongst them. Parents looked even more
elated.
“I want to thank you all for believing
in the children of Lebanon,” he said.
“Ninety-eight years ago, Rockefeller and
others invested in this school and they
believed in teaching those children. Today
some of their grandchildren have become
leaders of this country. I want to make
sure that you know that Saad Hariri is
with you and thanks you.”
