tals in the US and overseas.
Ghada Hourani ’74
is married to Raja Kawar ’71 and they
have two children, Tamara (14) and Dania (9). We have
been living in Paris since 1987. For the last five years
Ghada has been managing partner of Amin Kawar & Sons
travel and tourism in Beirut, Lebanon.
Hani Bekdash ’75
recently spent his last day at Salinas Int’l
& Crescent Line, leaving to pursue the opportunity of a life-
time. He will be starting his own business and will be
actively involved in the sales, marketing and in the running
of the operation (Procurement, Trading and Exports) as well
as in serving of all his clients, both domestic and interna-
tional.
Yahya Ishak ’76
is General Manager of House of Invention
in Yemen, a business which handles investments and gener-
al trading.
Abdel Fatah Amhaz ’79,
with Future Television since 1993,
has promoted lately to senior manager overlooking the tech-
nical/operation/production divisions’ work.
Abdel Fatah is married to Sirine El Zein ’84 and they have
two kids, Rami 13 and Tamara 10, who are IC students.
Mounib Daaboul ’79
has been in Abu Dhabi since 1987.
Today, he is the business development executive of
Emirates Holdings. Mounib has two children, Jimmy (17)
and Yasmina (15). Next year, his son will be going to AUB.
CLASS OF ’80 - ’87
Maher Jabado ’80
is married with two children. He works in
sales of horticultural material to the Middle East and Canada.
Nabil Mufarrij ’80
is the Communication Servicing Director
at Leo Burnett Dubai, UAE.
Wadih Nasrallah ’81
is the new Area Manager for Sigma
Engines at Ford Motor Company. He is in the process of
moving houses and relocating from Brentwood, Essex to
Penarth, Wales. His two daughters, Bethany (7) and Nicole
(5), are growing fast, and he is now enjoying spending time
with them and his dear wife, Julia.
Mohamad Salam ’81 is the Branch Manager at Byblos Bank,
married to Sanaa Sabbagh with four children: Carol, Khodr,
Karim and Karen.
Dr. John Magnotta ’82
sends his greetings from New York,
USA. Dr. Magnotta is the District Director for Health,
Physical Education, and Athletics, for the City School
District of New Rochelle, New York. The District has over
11,000 students and is located 10 miles north of New York
City. Greetings to all his friends in Beirut!
Bilal Mansour ’82
and his wife Maya are happy to
announce the arrival of their new baby girl, Mariam. She
was born on the April 28, 2006 at AUH. Thank God, Mom
and baby are in perfect health. You can reach Bilal and

Hala Musallam ’82
and Nizar Charafeddine’82 got married
in September 1989 and now reside in Houston, Texas with
their three children: Yasmeen (13), Chafic (11), and Marwan
(9). Nizar graduated with an M.D. from AUB, completed his
internship and residency training in Internal Medicine in the
Johns Hopkins Health System in Baltimore, Maryland, fol-
lowed by a fellowship in Gastroenterology at Yale University
in New Haven, Connecticut. Nizar has a solo Gastroenterology
practice and is part-owner in a Surgery Center in Houston. Hala
graduated from AUB as well with a BA in English Language and
Literature and with a Teaching Diploma. She continued at AUB
to get an MA in TEFL, went on to teach at BUC, and then at the
AUB Hariri Program. Hala now manages the practice for her
husband in addition to caring for the family.
Hassib Gebara ’84
graduated from AUB with a BA in
Business Administration, he worked for a year in Beirut and
then moved to Dubai in June 1989 where he worked for 17
years. After working in banking and computer sales, he
joined Leo Burnett in 1993 in the Media department and
has been with the group (Publicis Groupe) since. He is cur-
rently handling one of their media companies, Zenithmedia,
in the capacity of Regional Managing Director for the
Middle East and North Africa. He got married in August
2003 to Karine Barakat and they are now expecting their
first baby, a baby girl. The family is residing in Cairo, Egypt
In April 2006,
Mazen Haddad ’84
relocated to San
Francisco, California, to become Program Manager for Blast
Radius Toronto, the world's largest Video Game manufac-
turers (Electronic Arts).
After 20 years of living in London,
Omar Anabtawi ’85
and
his wife Layla relocated to Dubai where he joined Abraaj
Capital as Vice President.
Dr. Mazen Saghir ’85
spent three years in the San Francisco
Bay Area working at a silicon-valley start-up company
called Improv Systems. In 2002, he returned to Lebanon to
join AUB as an Assistant Professor in the Department of
Electrical and Computer Engineering, and has been there
ever since. His very latest news is that he got married to
Ghina Mumtaz on April 22, 2006. Ghina has a Masters
Degree in epidemiology from AUB and is currently a
Research Assistant with the National Collaborative Perinatal
Neonatal Network at AUB Medical Center
Nada El-Halabi ’86
is now residing in the Sultanate of
Oman with her husband Ghassan Marrouche. They have
three boys, ages 2 and a half, 6, 9, attending the British
School of Muscat. She is currently doing her Masters Degree
in Early Childhood Education and hopefully will be finish-
ing in February 2007.
